The Day-for-a-Year Principle
Scripture itself establishes the symbolic exchange before Daniel ever uses it

Twice in the Torah, God explicitly converts days into years as a unit of prophetic reckoning — not a measurement of the actual sky, but a fixed symbolic exchange rate. Daniel and Revelation inherit this principle; they do not invent it.
"After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise."

John gives the same length twice in consecutive verses, once in months and once in days — and the conversion is exact only because the underlying month is a fixed 30 days, not a real lunar month (which runs about 29.5 days and would drift over 42 cycles).

Why the Prophetic Year Needs No Leap Week
A Fixed Unit, Not a Tracked Calendar
Why every conversion above lands exact, with no remainder
The Enoch Calendar's 364 days must be corrected with an occasional leap week, because it is a lived calendar — it has to track the real tropical year (365.2422 days) so that Nisan 1 stays anchored near the spring equinox. The prophetic 360-day year does the opposite job: it is never used to mark a lived, ongoing date. It exists only to convert a prophetic time-span into a count of days, once, for a single span. Because nothing about it has to track the real sky, nothing about it ever needs correcting.
The Arithmetic Always Closes
1260 days ÷ 30= 42 months exactly
1260 days ÷ 360= 3.5 years exactly
42 months ÷ 12= 3.5 years exactly
All three agreeto the day — only possible on a fixed 30/360 unit
A real synodic month is about 29.53 days. Forty-two real lunar months would run roughly 1240 days — twenty days short of 1260. A real tropical year is 365.2422 days; 3.5 of those would run about 1278 days — eighteen days over. Daniel and Revelation only agree to the exact day because neither is using the real moon or the real sun — both are using the same idealized 30-day month, 360-day year.
